Once I opened Vasari , the first step was to set the measure units , converting to the metric system by the command "manage- units".

Then I set my area, (Via Vessella, Rome) importing the geographical coordinates from google maps with the commands " Set Location " and " import site image . "

Taking confidence with the display options - all pretty intuitive - and defined the area of reference, I drew the perimeters of the various buildings with the command "create mass" , and using the tool "line" .

Got the perimeter, I extruded, by selecting volumes to the height detected, whereas about 3.00 meters per floor, finalizing the transaction with the command "finish the mass".

When I obtained the volumes, I used the command "sun path on" exposing them to the various positions of the sun at noon during the equinoxes and solstices, and over a whole day in a given sample, on March 17th .

I then compared the render perspective views - obtained through the tool "camera" - comparing them with the photographic surveys carried out on the latter date, verifying the actual correspondence .

My home is on the third floor of the building , which is exposed to the north- west of the road and plan accordingly illuminated by direct sunlight in the afternoon in the spring season. This is particularly advantageous with regard to the living area and the bedrooms located on the street level, giving the impression of a proper study of shading in the design phase of the building.

It should be noted that, for the construction , have been required of the works of radical change in the morphology of the surrounding area , a concrete buttress was in fact placed in support of the hill behind the building . Given the size of this concrete wall - considerably higher than the building itself - the intervention has had a major impact on the thermal conditions of housing, in fact, the environments exposed on this side are in the shade for most of the day, except for some hours of the morning in these environments have been wisely placed the services.
