MODELLING

First of all, we are going to reate a more realistic building. So we have put the balcony, windows, vegetation...

SELECT THE MASS/ EDIT IN-PLACE/SET WORK PLANE  Then we select the first face of the building, and we choose the form (line, rectangle, circle...) that we are considering, in this case it will be a rectangle.

CREATE FORM/ SOLID FORM  To insert another mass to the first mass. CREATE FORM/ VOID FORM To remove a part of our mass.

SUN RADIATION

The solar radiation analysis tools in Vasari enable you to map and analyse the effects of the sun over a geographic area for specific time periods. It accounts for atmospheric effects, site latitude and elevation, steepness and compass direction, daily and seasonal shifts of the sun angle, and effects of shadows.

ANALYZE/ SOLAR RADIATION

Sun Study: This offers you the option of visualising the mass per hours, days, seasons and years.

Analysis Accuracy: This allows you have the control of the analysis resolution.

Unit: We will use kWh/m2

Style: You can use the default style here, also you can create a new one for do your own analyze.

Sun Study:

Default view:

Style:

For this exmple we will use ´Markers with text', so we create a new one with this characteristic:

We can change in SETTINGS/TEXT LABELS ON MARKERS/ show all.

COLOUR We exchange the colour Max: RED to Min: BLUE

Our SUN ANALYZE view:

By moving the ANALYSIS ACCURACY and the SIZE, we can alter the balance of the dot and the number.

This is the result.

THE BUILDING ASSESSMENT

Vasari allows you to calculate absorbed and transmitted solar radiation. These values give the designer more detail on how much of the solar radiation will actually penetrate through the walls and windows of the building. These calculations do take into account material properties. To get accurate results, you need to ensure these properties are correct.
For walls and roofs, the properties taken into account are the “solar absorption” which a material absorbs and the materials transparency value.

Study of the difference in Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. In the summer season, there is a much larger area of yellow on the surface, which tells us that the suns radiation is far more intense than that of the winter season.

IN THE FLOOR SIDE

Summer

Autumn

Winter

Spring

We can apreciate that there is a big change from summer (298,9kWh/m2) to winter  (86,9 kWh/m2) although in the middle of seasons there is more subtle change.

IN THE BUILDING SIDE

We have to select the whole of our own building.

We are going to focus now on the balcony and the window for the 6th and 7th floor, with Markers with text style.

Summer

Winter

We can see the difference between the windows on the 1st and 2nd floor and those on the 6th and 7th.

Summer

Winter

STUDY OF THE PROJECT AREA

This study is performed at 10:00 in the morning in the different seasons, we can apreciate how the shade effects our project workspace and also to the nearby buildings.

March

July

Octover

January

CONCLUSION

The study shows that the front side of the buiding will recieve a notable amount of sunlight during the morning throughout the year. With this information we can see how the shadow appears in the west, and therefore, we can gather a good estimation on how to distribute the interior rooms and common places. By studying the movement of the sun and how this will affect our building and project area,we can move forward positively and efficiently in designing a building to secure the maximum comfort for the guests and residents whom will reside here.
