Open a new family

Click on family types, Create new SHARED parameter

Create a new shared parameter file and save it on the folder of the lesson, create a new parameter group (for example named LESSON 3) and create a new shared parameter named s_length

Create two more new shared parameters

Modify the three parameters to instance

Create two reference planes (one vertical and one horizontal) and label them as the parameters length and width

Click on extrusion, create a rectangle and align the sides of the rectangle to the reference planes

Go to the front elevation, create a new reference plane and align it to the side of the rectangle and then label it as the parameter thickness

Create a new project and load the family

Go to the family and create a new shared parameter named “s_name” and choose “text” from data type

Load the family to the project
