Dynamo - Doors & Windows Showroom

Hi there,

Today i'm going to show another little workflow, still using Dynamo and Revit. As i show in my previous post i use Dynamo to automate the loadable families showroom creation. That workflow wasn't not working for Doors and Windows, because they need to be hosted on a wall.

I struggled a little bit to find a workflow allow me to create this kind of showroom. Actually this is a dirty workflow, and here i really see the issue with my lack of ability in coding. I think that  couple of lines of code can do the same job in less time. But i don't know how to code and this workflow is pretty effective so i'm going to show it.

so this is the results: all the doors types in the project are placed on a wall and ready to be used.

Here is the worklow. I start from a black file with some doors families loaded inside. First i'm going to use Dynamo to read how many doors family types are in the projects. the "All Family Types Of Category" is going to read how many family types are loaded in my project.

Then i'm going to create manually 42 doors all of the same type. I'm goinn to use array tool from revit is pretty fast. If i make more than 42 doesn't matter. Here is where my workflow is broke. I've tried to find a way to place multiples door on wall in Dynamo but i did not find any node. Using code you can skip this step.

Then i just have to hit the run button and the node "Family Istance.Set Type" will replace the istances with each type in the project.

The istances are well organized, family by family
