In order to study the glass surfaces we can model the windows and balconies and we can better define the shape of the building . We select the mass and click on "Edit in-place" in the Modify Menu .

Now with the drawing tools we can define the shape and measurements of the window. Pay attention to the work plane on which you are drawing.

The units can be changed directly. You just have to click on it.

PARTE I - RADIAZIONE SOLARE EDIFICIO IN VIA CALVIGNANO, ACILIA (RM)

Per svolgere l'analisi della radiazione solare sull'edificio preso in esame nella prima esercitazione, continuiamo la modellazione attraverso la definizione dei particolari di facciata. Seguono i passaggi per l'aggiunta di elementi agettanti e la creazione di vuoti in facciata. 

MODELLAZIONE PIENI E VUOTI 

Per migliorare il modello creato nella precedente esercitazione, possiamo caratterizzare il nostro semplice volume, con altrettanto semplici modellazioni, come balconi, finestre, porte o tettoie. Con queste modifiche possiamo scendere più nel dettaglio ed andare ad analizzare non solo l'irraggiamento, ma anche la radiazione solare.

Methodology

create architectonical elements of the facade

> re-use the precedent model

> create void volumes to generate the shape of the facade

> design the balconies as solid volumes and copy them

> design the windows as solid voids and copy them

solar analysis

> set sun settings (in our case on the 23 march 8:00 / 12:00 / 16:00 related to the first analysis)

> in the sun setting, create a new style, name it "Color style" with the minimum in blue and the maximun in red.
